Pay Fines/Costs & Restitution

The Circuit Court accepts payments by cash, credit/debit card*, check or money order made payable to the "Clerk of Circuit Court". You are welcome to pay in the office during working hours, through the mail or online. We DO NOT accept payments over the phone. If you choose to send payment through the mail, please clarify which case/defendant should be credited with payment. More information is better than less; please reference a case number or the defendant's name and date of birth. If you wish to receive a receipt for your payment by mail, then you must provide a self-addressed stamped envelope. Payments can be sent to the King George Circuit Court at 10446 Government Center Blvd, Suite 271, King George, Virginia 22485.

Update to Court Costs and Fines Due Date

As of August 20, 2024, it was ordered that the policy of the Circuit Court Clerk's office is to allow thirty (30) days for defendants to pay costs and fines unless otherwise directed by the Court.

Representation

We strongly recommend that you retain an attorney for representation in your case. The employees in this office cannot assist you or provide legal advice.  You can find one through the Virginia Lawyer Referral Service's website or contact them at 804-775-0808 or 800-552-7977.  If you cannot afford an attorney, please speak with the court about requesting that one be appointed. If you were appointed a Public Defender, you can reach their office at 540-899-4814.

Terms of Court and General Information

  • Term Day will be held on the 3rd Tuesday in January, April, July & October with Grand Jury/Criminal Docket at 9:00 a.m. and Civil Term/docket at 11:00 a.m.
  • Cases are set on Term Day by praecipe.
  • Criminal Docket: 3rd and 4th Tuesday, 2nd Tuesday probation violations at 9:00 a.m. and every Wednesday except the 2nd.
  • Civil Docket: every Monday and the 1st and 5th Tuesdays of the month, 2nd Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. civil motions.
  • Motions are scheduled through the Judge’s Chambers.
  • Estate/Probate matters are handled by appointment.
  • The last recording is completed by 3:45 p.m.
  • Orders are sent to attorneys by email. Please provide either a valid email address for all parties or a self-addressed stamped envelope.  
  • Only fax time-sensitive documents; it is not necessary to fax AND mail every pleading.
