The commonwealth's attorney's office prosecutes all felonies and most misdemeanors. The prosecution takes place in three courts: Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court, General District Court & Circuit Court. The commonwealth's attorney's office also administers the Victim/Witness Program.
In addition, the commonwealth's attorney has partnered with many other agencies to provide the most effective prosecution and service to crime victims and witnesses, including: The Police Liaison Program which provides assistance, support, training & education to the Sheriff's Office every month, the Department of State Police and the Magistrate's Office every quarter & the Rappahannock Regional Justice Academy on a bimonthly basis.
