All inspections must be requested (1) day in advance by 3:00 pm (no exceptions) by calling 540-775-7111. Please provide the building permit number and owner/contractor name. The building permit card must be posted to be visible from the public right of way. The county-approved plans shall be on-site at all times.
- 1st erosion & sediment controls (silt fence/construction entrance etc.)
- Footing—pier (before concrete placement)
- Foundation (before backfill)
- Retaining wall (before backfill)
- Waterproofing and drain tile (before backfill)
- Plumbing groundworks (before slab placement)
- Waterline—Public & Private (before backfill)
- Sewer—Public only (before backfill)
- All slab inspections (before concrete placement)
- Rough in all (before insulation)
- Veneer—wall bracing/house wrap (before siding/brick)
- Insulation (before drywall)
- Drywall (for brace wall inspections only)
- Shower pan, shower walls (with tile)
- LP gas tank & line (before backfill)
- Underground electric (before backfill)
- Temporary electric service
- Throat/hearth on masonry fireplaces
- Factory fireplace/flue
- Final building before occupying any structure under the permit
- Final erosion & sediment control
- Bond release (well-established vegetation)
Other inspections may be required by building officials.
You may call between 8:00 and 8:30 A.M. on inspection day to receive a 2-hour time frame. When calling please follow the prompts by selecting 1 for inspections. You will then be prompted to select 2 for a building inspection time window or 3 for an erosion inspection time window. In addition, if you need to cancel an inspection, then please do so by 8:30 A.M. the day of the inspection. A $75.00 re-inspection fee will be charged if the project is not ready.
