We held a combined Certified Fire Academy and Lieutenant Promotional Ceremony. We are extremely proud to present the graduates of our third Certified Academy: FF/Recruit Seth Cleaveland, FF/EMT Elliott Ganson, FF/EMT Colten Nunez, and FF/Recruit Abigail Toler, along with the promotion of three current employees to the rank of Lieutenant: Lieutenant Cody Dunn, Lieutenant John Clift, and Lieutenant Aaron Rock. We were fortunate to have King George Board of Supervisor members Annie Cupka – Fire/Rescue Liaison, Chairman Jeff Stonehill, Dahlgren District, and TC Collins James Monroe District in attendance at the graduation ceremony which was conducted today. Clerk of the Court - Vic Mason was also present to swear in and read the oaths of our four newest hires and new lieutenants. We heard from multiple presenters, including BOS Member Annie Cupka, Fire Chief David Moody, Lt. Halkowich, and Honor Guard member Zachary Dove. Presentations highlighted the hard work that was accomplished during these last four weeks of the academy, and also encouraged these new members to always continue to learn, grow and share their experiences and knowledge with those that come after them. Chief Moody spoke directly to the new Lieutenants about the importance of leadership and training to develop employees to better our department.
We also conducted our cake-cutting ceremony by celebrating our most senior firefighter, former Chief Ted Lovell, and our youngest firefighter, FF/EMT Abigail Toler.
